Starting May 27th, the library will be operating Doorbell Service only. Ring the doorbell outside the main door to make returns or attend to a library account issue like fines or fees.
Books may also be returned to the dropbox between GE and the Library buildings. Please do not return technology items in the dropbox, return technology to the library during open hours.

Background information is a general overview of a topic. This information can help you decide if the topic really is in line with your thinking, whether you want to continue researching in that subject area, and get familiar with unfamiliar topics. Background information may include facts, historical figures, timelines, definitions, origins, theories, events, and more. Gathering background information should:

General encyclopedias can be helpful for gathering background information. For controversial topics, current events, or other polarized issues, Pro/Con databases can work well for overviews.
Searchable reference sources on all topics. This is a good starting point for your research project. Use this database to get an overview of a topic and identify keywords and topics to identify further research.
