What is the O'Reilly Online Learning & Training Library?

O'Reilly Learning is a platform that provides access to technical and business resources, including over 60,000 books, videos, and interactive courses. Courses, books, and videos cover a wide range of topics but include things like:

  • Artificial intelligence
  • Computer programming languages
  • Data analysis
  • Software development
  • Systems engineering
  • and much, much more

 

O’Reilly Learning is open to all San Jose City College students, faculty and staff. A valid student or faculty/staff email address is required. Students will need to use their San Jose City College student email address to access O’Reilly Learning; see below for steps to access. Faculty and Staff, use the For Instructors & Staff page.

Step 1: Create Your username@stu.sjcc.edu Account

Follow the steps below to create your San Jose City College email address. These instructions are taken from the Office 365 - Student Instruction Page. 

  1. Navigate to http://outlook.com/stu.sjcc.edu​
     
  2. Enter your user name (your MyWeb login) in the following format:  username@stu.sjcc.edu 
    Example:  If your MyWeb ID is jaad9999 then your username will be jaad9999@stu.sjcc.edu
     
  3. Enter your password.  The new authentication system includes a password registration and reset site to enable you to change your password online.  Instructions for registration and changing your Office 365 password are online:

Step 2: Create & Validate an O’Reilly Learning Account

To create an account, follow the directions below. O’Reilly Learning is open to all San Jose City College College students, faculty and staff.

  1. Go to O’Reilly Learning
  2. In the School or Institution box, type in San Jose City College
  3. Enter your San Jose City College email address (username@stu.sjcc.edu).
    NOTE: You'll have access immediately, but you'll need to validate your account

  4. Validate Account: O’Reilly will send an email in about 20 minutes
  5. Select the link in the email to validate your email address and create a password
  6. Once you have a validated account, Sign In to O’Reilly Learning on or off-campus directly through the link
