Learning Digital Photography This textbook is designed to guide you through the essential skills and techniques needed to become a proficient photographer |
"The historical background of art history has been written from the canon of wealthy individuals from Western countries focusing on well-known art and artifacts in isolated environments. To become more culturally inclusive, the textbook is written to redefine art history by discussing art from every continent, civilization, and unknown artists and comparing different cultures that existed at the same time." |
|
"Keeping your eyes open is what Art History is all about. To take the time to look carefully at a work of art, to identify its formal elements, and to think about the context of its creation. To approach all the imagery you see thoughtfully, and to take those skills of critical thinking and analysis into the rest of your life." |
"At the end of this book, we hope to have a roadmap to guide you through these exciting early days as a photographer, from understanding how to use your camera to making your own printed photographs in a darkroom." |
A World Perspective of Art Appreciation "Art appreciation is centered on the ability to view art throughout history, focusing on the cultures and the people, and how art developed in the specific periods. You cannot understand art without understanding the culture, their use of materials and sense of beauty. Art is also conveyed by the simple act of creating art for art’s sake. Every person is born with the innate desire to create art and similar to other professions, training is essential in honing skills to produce art." |
"Who am I? What is beautiful? These questions populate our lives and inform our perceptions of the world. Explore these questions according to the expressions of artists from all over the world. Go beyond Western art to consider where art comes from and how it impacts all of us." |
Introduction to Art Concepts "Provides a foundational exploration of art. It covers key themes such as the principles of design, elements of art, various media, and the diverse roles art plays in society. The book introduces major movements and styles, encouraging critical thinking about how art reflects and influences human experiences." |
